Pure joy. Designing this production was pure joy from start to finish. I was thrilled to be offered this production. I have been crazy about Patsy Cline forever. In Always…Patsy Cline, the script requires 10 separate looks for Patsy. We built 5 of them in the PSU costume shop. 1 faculty member and 3 students each built one of Patsy’s looks. A gifted undergrad received her first professional credit by making Patsy’s black and white shirtwaist dress. Because there were so many costumes I built Patsy’s white finale dress. Many hours of work, but I worked with joy and passion. A wonderful experience.

“Richard St. Clair, longtime head of Penn State’s costume design program, had been hired to design the costumes. He immediately brought in some students to build them — and add a professional credit to their résumés.“

(broadstreetreview.com) “Patsy’s wardrobe, designed by Richard St. Clair, is simply outstanding. While the band and Walton are well-costumed, Lewis-Michelson is dressed in stunningly accurate and beautifully constructed period garments, including a Western-style outfit that was (surprisingly) made in Amsterdam and is authentic enough to grace the Opry stage.”
